Bamboo “Green Village” Community In Thailand

The “Green Village” is a community of ecological houses sitting along the Ayung River that co-exist with the natural landscape by using bamboo as its only building material. The houses are among the first structures that use traditional building methods and local craftsmen, allowing each residence to have its own unique character as the architects work hand-in-hand with the client to tailor the design to their specific needs.

The collaboration between the Green School in Bali and design firm Ibuku also helps the Green School continue its educational efforts by giving a percentage of the proceeds to the school, allowing 15% of the local student body to study on full scholarships.

The only thing I wonder about is how to keep the mosquitos from biting you while you are sitting on the sofa with a drink overlooking the tremendously beautiful landscape.

Check out the gallery after the jump.
