For those of us who have seen Christopher Nolan’s latest film Interstellar, your mind is still flirting with spectacular imagery of space and what exploration of the final frontier could actually look like. But what if we surpassed Interstellar’s story and actually are able to colonize on vast planets and moons?
Eric Wernquist’s immensely beautiful short film Wanderers explores that exact realization of what humanity’s future in space might look like. The film, which has no story line, is based on scientific ideas and concepts built from real photos and map data where available. The imagery and editing is spot on as the film takes you to various places in the Solar System like Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and moons – Music is provided by Cristian Sandquist and narration by none other than Carl Sagan.
If you’re interested in learning a bit more about the film, be sure to check out its imgur photo gallery for extensive narratives about each sequence in Wanderers.
